Real Estate Investors: Your Beloved Tax Treatment is in Jeopardy.

Today The White House published Fact Sheet: The American Families Plan. There are a lot of items in here and this will not be the last clip we do regarding this document but I found the possible elimination of 1031 exchange for gains on real estate investments above $500,000 interesting. This can apply to many people who are not impacted by other parts of the plan as many real estate investors might have a large built up gain (or profit when you subtract the purchase price and improvements from the sale price). Especially right now, since real estate is red hot in many parts of the US and a lot of real estate investors might be looking to cash in by selling their properties and buying other ones.
